Payment Info for the Lewisham Sponsorship Programme

Planting trees is one of the simplest and most powerful ways you can improve life in your neighbourhood. Trees cool our streets during heatwaves, absorb carbon, improve air quality, reduce flooding, support wildlife and create greener, healthier places for everyone to enjoy. Across Lewisham, street trees create space for nature and help to make our community stronger, one tree at a time.

Thank you for being part of this positive change. This year the requested donation for each tree is £395 and the payment deadline is 21st June 2026.

There are a few different ways you can make your donation, with the options outlined below. However you choose to donate, please don’t forget to include your planting reference as this makes it much easier for us to identify your donation and link it to your tree.

Option 1 — Donate via our Aviva Match Funding Campaign

Why are we encouraging this route?

This year, we have an exciting opportunity through the Aviva Community Fund, where donations made through our Aviva campaign can be match funded up to a total of £25,000. This means your donation could go even further, helping us plant and care for more trees across Lewisham. Choosing this option also helps us cover the full costs of planting and establishing new trees, including watering and care during their early years.

How does it work?

Eligible donations made through our campaign receive additional match funding from Aviva, helping to increase the impact of every contribution. The match funding is limited overall, so we are encouraging supporters to use this route while funding is still available. Once we have reached our campaign target and secured the full £25,000 match fund, we will encourage supporters to donate via bank transfer instead.

This option is best for:

  • Sponsoring a single tree

  • Split payments

  • Supporters wanting to maximise the impact of their donation

How to donate

  1. Visit our campaign page: https://communitiesfund.avivafoundation.org.uk/p/street-trees-for-lewisham

  2. Click on ‘Donate’

  3. Make your donation, with Gift Aid if applicable. (Please be aware that a generic donation amount will automatically appear, but this amount can be customised by you. You will also be invited to leave a tip for Crowdfunder, but this too can be customised and is entirely optional.)

  4. After completing you donation, please enter your planting reference in the comments/message section on the next page. (Please note that should you wish to remain anonymous and not listed on the public supporter page, you will not be able to leave a comment with your reference number. In this instance, please email us via the address at the bottom of the page with details of your payment so that we can match it to the tree.)

Option 2 — Direct Bank Transfer (BACS)

This option is best for:

  • Sponsoring multiple trees

  • Larger donations

  • Donations made once our Aviva match funding target has been reached

If you would prefer to donate by bank transfer, please use the details below. Please be sure to include your planting reference as the payment reference, as this makes it much easier for us to identify your donation and link it to the correct tree.

Option 3 — Create your own crowdfunding page

Why choose this option?

Creating your own fundraising page is a fantastic way to bring together neighbours, friends, schools, community groups or local businesses to support tree planting in your area.

This option is particularly good for:

  • Streets or groups sponsoring multiple trees

  • Encouraging lots of smaller donations

  • Sharing your campaign on social media or local WhatsApp groups

  • Raising awareness as well as funds

  • Bringing your community together around a shared project

How to get started:

We use Crowdfunder as our fundraising platform.
