Freddy’s Blossom Walk

Over the last 3 planting seasons a memorial walk has been lovingly created in memory of Freddy Forbes Adam, a young Lewisham man who tragically died in his sleep in August 2021. The walk consists of 150 blossom trees planted across the Lewisham Borough. The five mile circular walk meanders through six wards and six parks and several different species of tree make up the walk. These include, Cherries, Crab Apples, Silverbells, Magnolias, Honey Locusts and Judas trees.

Freddy’s parents, family and friends have raised an incredible amount of money - around £70,000 - to plant such a large number of trees. His dad, Archie Forbes Adam, undertook a huge challenge last year running the Loch Ness Marathon and then cycling back to London climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon on the way

Freddy's parents said "Freddy's blossom walk is a tribute to Fred's beautiful nature. Planting and looking after the trees has given us some solace over the last couple of years and what started as a plan to plant a few trees in Fred's memory has blossomed into a 5 mile, 150 tree strong walk that will blossom each year on Freddy's Birthday. The route covers Fred's stomping ground, the streets and parks of SE London where he grew up and is there for everyone to enjoy"

During Spring and Summer Freddy's parents have been watering every tree weekly. Now that Freddy's Blossom Walk is 150 trees long they would love some help with the watering so if the walk passes your street and you would like to become a tree guardian for one or two of the trees on Freddy's walk please email freddysblossomwalk@outlook.com

You can recognise Freddy’s Blossom Walk by the specially designed blue labels that include a QR code to access a map of the walk.

We've been honoured to help Freddy's family create Freddy's Blossom Walk and look forward to seeing it blossom and bloom each and every year.
